In science, we learned about combining materials to create new things like bridges. Children worked in small groups to create a sturdy bridge that could hold a toy car. They had a great time and were super creative!
We had a very fun-filled day! It started off with Valentine's Stations in each of the 2nd grade classrooms. Mrs. Caby had them create a Valentine's heart craft. Mrs. Saliba had the kids being creative and thoughtful with a STEM activity. In my classroom, we did a science experiment to test out if candy hearts would sink or float in 3 different types of liquid. Then, we looked to see if the candy hearts would change over time. Each class surprisingly had a different results!
The class party was also a huge success!! Enjoy all the pictures from the day. Our class is paired up with Mrs. Howell's kindergarteners for reading buddies! We had so much fun getting to know each other and reading books together. We will be meeting each month and doing different activities together. Our class visited Mrs. Caby and Mrs. Saliba's classroom for a special activity today. The kids had a blast making and flying their own paper airplanes in the classroom and measuring how many meters it flew. Afterwards, they compared their longest distance to a classmate's. |
